How Moderation and Appeals Work on Hudood

A community is only as good as what happens when something goes wrong. This is how reporting, moderation and appeals work on Hudood, in plain words.

Anyone can report

You can report a post, comment, reel, message or account from its menu. Choose the reason that fits best and add details or screenshots if they help. The reasons follow our Community Guidelines and the law, from spam to harassment to content that endangers a child.

People review reports, most serious first

Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, not by an automated system that decides on its own. Each reason carries its own deadline, and the most serious categories go to the front of the queue. For a small number of serious reasons, a post or reel can be hidden automatically once several different members have reported it. That keeps it out of view until a moderator looks at it.

What can happen

If content breaks the rules, a moderator can hide it or remove it. Depending on how serious it is and on the account's history, the account can also be warned, restricted, suspended or, for the gravest cases, banned. If a report does not show a breach, it is closed and nothing changes.

A moderator can never act on their own content. Staff are held to the same rules as everyone else.

You are told what happened, and why

When we act on your post or your account, you get a notification that says what we did and why. No silent removals.

How to appeal

If you think we got it wrong, open Settings, then Account status, and choose Appeal. Tell us why. A moderator reviews the appeal and the decision is sent to you. If the appeal succeeds, the content is restored or the restriction is lifted.

Formal complaints and deadlines

You can also write to our Grievance Officer at grievance@hudood.com. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve most within 7 days. Non-consensual intimate imagery is removed within 2 hours of a complaint. Every deadline we work to is in the Grievance Redressal Policy.
